With the Carolina Hurricanes being swept by the Florida Panthers last night, this now marks the third straight time in three appearances that the Hurricanes have lost in the Conference Finals dating back to 2009.
The Florida Panthers are now heading to the Stanley Cup Finals, and are the first team since, in the NHL's expansion era (since 1967-68) to reach the finals after spending less then 30% of the season in a playoff spot.
The funny thing about all this is, we wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for the Penguins, who only needed 3 out of 4 points against Chicago and Columbus (two of the worst teams in the league) to secure a playoff spot, and the Panthers wouldn't have made the playoffs.
The Panthers have made it look really easy despite playing against the 1st, 2nd, and 4th placed teams in the league throughout the playoffs. What an incredible run they are on
