The Boston Bruins will have to figure out what to do with Trent Frederic, and trading him to their rivals may be one option.

The Boston Bruins have failed to extend forward Trent Frederic on a down year of his career.
The entire 2024-2025 season seems to have affected a majority of Bruins in this way, including goalie Jeremy Swayman. But, unlike Swayman the Bruins will have to figure out how to squeeze assets out of a forward they can't sign.
So they'll have to trade him, and one option is sending him to the Toronto Maple Leafs, a dreaded rival.
While it would be painful to see him in Maple Leafs colors, the Bruins could fetch a wealth of assets in return for the former 1st-round pick.
Last season he showed that he's not only a capable enforcer but goal-scorer. A Tom Wilson-lite.
Frederic has a lot of versatility that would look attractive to a contender.
Frederic has a lethal shot when he uses it. His shot on goal totals have gone down, but he was shooting at over 14% in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Frederic has the tools to be effective offensively, but his new team may have to unlock that part of his game. The nice part is Frederic can play both center and wing, so he provides versatility when constructing the lineup.

There are plenty of reasons why Brad Treliving would be interested in Frederic considering the Maple Leafs' lineup lacks the kind of two-way style that he can play.
Despite this year being an off-year, the Bruins could find a way to turn a negative into a positive as they get a return on assets, and Frederic gets a fresh start in blue and white.
