The Boston Bruins have announced a shocking player as a healthy scratch ahead of their game against the New York Rangers.

Heading into their first game of the New Year, the Bruins are set to faceoff against a struggling New York Rangers team, and Joe Sacco is making some interesting changes to the Bruins lineup.

The New York Rangers started off the season strong, by General Manager Chris Drury publicly called out some players and listed them as trade candidates. Ever since this has happened the season for the Rangers has done a complete 360.

After starting off the season strong, the Rangers now currently sit dead last in the Metropolitan Division, and sit 28th in the entire league.

The Rangers are set to host the Bruins tonight at Madison Square Garden tonight, and the Bruins will be going with a different looking lineup.

According to head coach Joe Sacco the Boston Bruins are making some changes after losing to the Washington Capitals on New Years Eve. Marc McLaughlin is confirmed to be a healthy scratch tonight while Oliver Wahlstrom will make his way back into the Bruins lineup.

Oliver Wahlstrom is in. Marc McLauglin is out.

Jeremy Swayman was the first goalie off.

Wahlstrom has been a healthy scratch for the Boston Bruins for the past two games where the Bruins won one of them and lost the other.

There will be a change though, as Wahlstrom has been playing third line minutes with Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, but will now play on the Bruins fourth line.

It was revealed that Wahlstrom will also be on the Bruins second power play unit for the game tonight.

Update: Wahlstrom back in BOS lineup tonight vs. NYR.
Will play fourth line and No. 2 PP.
