Today, a former Boston Bruins goaltender was placed on waivers, and it seems like General Manager Don Sweeney made the right choice in letting him walk.
According to
PuckPedia, a former Boston Bruins goaltender was placed on waivers today by the Florida Panthers.
Brandon Bussi ended up leaving the Boston Bruins organization once the season came to an end.
NEWS: The following players have been placed on waivers, on the purpose of assignment (October 4).
If not claimed by any teams, Bussi will join the Panthers AHL affiliate in the Charlotte Checkers.
Bruins signed Bussi to his entry-level deal
Back in 2021-22, the Boston Bruins ended up signing Bussi to his entry level contract after completing his third season with the Western Michigan University.
When playing for Michigan,
Bussi posted a 26-12-1 record with a .912 save percentage, and a 2.55 goals-against average in 39 games.
After joining the Boston Bruins organization, Bussi played in four seasons down in the American Hockey League.
He certainly excelled during his time in the AHL posting a 63-31-12record with a .915 SV%, and a 2.62 GAA, and eight shutouts in 111 games.
Bussi was definitely a good prospect for the Boston Bruins, but the Bruins obviously made the right choice in keeping DiPietro as he is currently fighting for a roster spot, whereas Bussi is being sent back down to the AHL.
