With the March 7th NHL trade deadline quickly approaching, Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has been linked to a top Central Division Stanley Cup contender.

After how the Bruins have been this season, there is no guarantee that Brad Marchand will be around following the NHL trade deadline, but there is also no guarantee that he does get traded.
Brad Marchand has stated multiple times that he does not want to leave the organization, but the Bruins are currently in a tough spot. They are just outside of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference race, and the organization has made no progress on a contract extension with their captain.
«I've always planned on playing here (Boston) my entire career,» Marchand said earlier today. «That hasn't changed. They're aware of that. I think everyone's aware of that. It's a gift to be playing for this team and I take a tremendous amount of pride in it. So yeah, that's always been a goal.»

It seems like the odds are point to the Boston Bruins trading Brad Marchand, and if they do Jacob Punturi of si.com has linked Brad Marchand to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Colorado Avalanche are a top contender once again this year headlined by two of the best stars in the NHL in Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, but are desperatley missing a scoring winger in their top six.
Colorado made a huge blockbuster trade when they sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes, and brought in a top scorer in Martin Necas, and a depth player in Jack Drury, but are still missing a big piece after trading Rantanen.
Brad Marchand would be the perfect player to put along side Nathan MacKinnon. Marchand is a hard forechecker, and has elite abilities around the net, he can also open up and create space for MacKinnon which is something the Avs are missing.
Marchand is also still a top scorer in the league, currently sitting second on the Bruins in points at 36-years-old. In 58 games the captain has 20 goals, and 25 assists for 45 points. Adding him to the Avalanche's roster would make them an immediate cup favourite.
MacKinnon and Marchand are also both Nova Scotia natives, which could play a huge role in the Avalanche pushing to acquire the Bruins captain as the NHL trade deadline approaches.
