Former Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has had a career year this year with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and has become a sought-after player because of it, but recently got hit with some devastating injury news.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were facing off against the New York Rangers on February 23rd when the defenseman suffered an upper-body injury after a dirty hit.
Grzelcyk was on the receiving end of a big hit from New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe, and was injured due to it.
The replay of the hit showed that Grzelcyk's head went awkwardly into the boards after taking a hit by Matt Rempe, and he stayed down on the ice for quite awhile.
After the hit, the officials gave Matt Rempe a five-minute major, but they would go on to replay the hit.
They would then change the hit from a five-minute major to a two-minute minor penalty for interference.
After review, Matt Rempe receives a two-minute penalty for this hit on Matt Grzelcyk

Devastating News Strikes Former Boston Bruins Defenseman

Later on in the game, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that Matt Grzelcyk would not return to the game, and it's unclear whether or not he will return before the trade deadline.
Matt Grzelcyk (upper-body injury) will not return to today's game.
Matt Grzelcyk has had a career year with the Penguins socring just one goal but putting up a new career high in assists and points with 27 assists and 28 points.
In the off-season, Grzelcyk ended up leaving the Boston Bruins organization after spending his first 8 years in the NHL with them and signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
There is belief that the Penguins were going to trade Grzelcyk at the NHL trade deadline as he has drawn a lot of attention from contenders, but this could change things.
If Grzelcyk is still injured by the NHL trade deadline, he more then likely will not be getting moved.
