The omission is the ongoing contract dispute as he and the Bruins have been battling for the past couple of months. This has put the Bruins organization under strain as they had traded fellow goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
There have been many discussions in what his next contract may look like as several numbers and terms have been thrown around the web which include a four-year deal at 6.2 million per season, an eight-year $6 million per season contract and even a $10 million per season contract.
The most likely contract Swayman is looking for is modeled around Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy which holds a $9.5 million cap hit.
Swayman appears to be resolved to achieve the highest contract possible as he feels he is setting a precedent for other goaltenders that are up and coming. He's also mentioned in a podcast recently that he is a student of the NHL game on the business side and understands his value, in what he should be paid considering the salary cap is on the rise.
The Bruins are certainly hesitant to giving this kind of money to him as he's only played 132 games in the NHL and has only won one playoff series.
Both sides appear to be at a stalemate and the pressure will begin to mount when he starts to miss games along with training camp. It will come down to how much he's willing to wait for.
