The Bruins Have Heavily Shown Interest In This 2024 RFA
Boston Hockey Now's Jimmy Murphy reports that the Boston Bruins are showing interest in Ottawa Senators prospect Shane Pinto. Pinto's contract negotiations with the Senators have hit a roadblock, with both sides still far apart.
The Senators currently have limited cap space at $895,953, while Pinto, after an impressive rookie season with 35 points in 82 games, is unlikely to accept less than his previous $925K annual salary.
However, the trade talks involving Pinto stem from Ottawa's preference for Ridly Greig, who was selected higher in the 2020 NHL Draft and had a strong season, contributing 29 points in 39 AHL games.
The rumored asking price for Pinto is high, with Ottawa seeking a high-end prospect close to making the NHL roster. Potential options from Boston include Fabian Lysell and John Beecher, both of whom played for the AHL's Providence Bruins last season.
Acquiring such prospects would help Ottawa strengthen their roster without significantly impacting their cap space, a priority for the Senators, as stated by Murphy's source
