Some game changing news has surfaced as a 6'6 forward has faced a possible season ending injury moments before the Boston Bruins take on the New York Rangers.

The Boston Bruins and New York Rangers are set to faceoff against each other for the second time in less than a week, and the New York Rangers were just hit with some bad news.

During their last meeting between these two teams, New York Rangers defenseman Adam Edstrom ended up leaving the game due to a lower-body injury, and the Rangers PR team confirmed that he wouldn't return.

UPDATE: Adam Edstrom (lower body) will not return tonight.

Edstrom exited after second shift of second period, will not return (lower body) per NYR

It looks like Edstrom was injured after he got tied up with Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov.

Here is the play in question:

This season Adam Edstrom has been a solid addition to the New York Rangers fourth line.

He has appeared in 50 games with the Rangers and has scored 5 goals, along with 4 assists for 9 points on the season while just averaging 9:12 of ice time.

Rangers insiders reveal Edstrom could be out for the remainder of the season

Multiple reports have revealed that Edstrom could be sidelined for 2-3+ months and could miss the remainder of the season because of it.

#NYR say Adam Edström (lower-body) is going to be out for 2 and a half to 3 and a half months.

Adam Edström is out 2.5-3.5 months with a lower-body injury.

Depending on how his recovery goes, that could be season ending.

The Boston Bruins are deadline with some injuries of their own as it was recently reported that Hampus Lindholm more than likely won't be back in the Bruins lineup until after the Four Nations Faceoff tournament.
