Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney Speaks On The Possibility Of A Reunion With Brad Marchand

GM Don Sweeney made sure to end his day of trading with a move that sent former Captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers, will there be a reunion soon?
According to reports by NHL Insider Scott McLaughlin of the SkatePod, the Bruins and Don Sweeney wouldn't rule out a reunion with Marchand.
However, that decision would be entirely Marchand's to make according to Sweeney.
After all of the moves to begin a Bruins retool, the most surprising one was the trade that sent Marchand to Florida for an underwhelming 2nd round pick in the 2027 NHL draft.
The upgrade is entirely conditional based on how the Panthers play during the postseason and could be turned into a 1st-round pick.
The pick starts as a 2027 second-rounder. It will become a 2027 or 2028 first-rounder if Florida wins two rounds of the playoffs this year and Marchand appears in at least 50 percent of the team's playoff games.
After all the dust has settled, Marchand will have to decide whether he wants to return to Boston and suit up as a Bruin or stay in Sunrise with his new team the Panthers.
Either way, Don Sweeney has left the door open for him to return.
If Brad Marchand can win a cup with the Panthers and decides to return to Boston, he should.
But the same Boston team he's known the last three seasons will look remarkably different, as many of the core pieces we know and loved have been traded for younger players.
For Marchand, he still has David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Pavel Zacha, and Jeremy Swayman left here.
It makes you wonder what is going through his head at the moment while he's out on injured reserve.
Either way, the former Bruins Captain has left a mark on the franchise and will remain forever.
In 61 games with the Bruins, he's scored 47 points (21 G, 26 A) and will join his new teammate Matthew Tkachuk on the injured reserve.
