The Boston Bruins kickoff their 2020-21 season tonight in New Jersey as they take on the Devils.

While forward Brad Marchand is expected to play, David Pastrnak won't be on the ice as he recovers from offseason surgery.

However Pastrnak is way ahead of schedule and it sounds like he could be back sooner than later.

Bruins' general manager Don Sweeney told reporters that Pastrnak will be back practicing with the team when they get back from their three game road trip.

While Pastrnak won't join the team for the road trip, having him back in practice before January 21 is huge news as he was only supposed to start practicing around early to mid February.

Youngster Jack Studnicka has been playing on the first line in the meantime.
