Toronto Maple Leafs place offseason free agent signing on waivers

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas placed one of his offseason free agent signings on waivers. NHL Elliotte Friedman broke the news today:

Nicolas Aube-Kubel, 26, was signed to a one-year, $1 million contract on July 13th, 2022, the opening day of Free Agency. Aube-Kubel appeared in 67 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche and recorded 11 goals and 11 assists. He was also a valuable fourth-liner in helping the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup.
As per Chris Johnston of Sportsnet:
The #leafs made Nicolas Aubé-Kubel available via trade this week before placing him on waivers today.
