Reports have surfaced that Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman has elected not to go through arbitration and may request a trade from the Bruins if he is forced to do so.

The restricted free agent has taken a step forward in his game as he had shown throughout the playoffs with the Bruins after being knocked out of the second round by the Florida Panthers. Many feel that this should constitute a major raise in a long-term deal for the netminder, but it appears ownership and general manager Don Sweeney may feel otherwise.

It was told that the Bruins have till 5:00 PM on June 5th to file for arbitration. This could potentially be a disastrous blow for the Bruins as if he requests a trade then they may have to move him where they had moved Linus Ullmark a few weeks ago to the Ottawa Senators which freed up $5,000,000 in cap space.

Swayman's contract has become front and centre for the Bruins has the team has been busy throughout the early offseason by locking up Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov. But it all comes down to Swayman as the Bruins made their decision on their goaltending and need to lock him up long term.
