As the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline looms, Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin emerges as a prominent trade candidate, garnering interest from multiple teams.

Throughout the season, the New Jersey Devils have been consistently linked to Hanifin, and recent reports from The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta indicate that trade discussions between the Devils and Flames are actively underway.

In his latest article, Pagnotta sheds light on the ongoing talks, stating,

"As we've reported this week, the Calgary Flames have been engaged in trade talks involving some of their players, including and more specifically their defensemen.

Noah Hanifin, ranked No.2 on the TFP Trade Watch List, has been on a few teams' radars, including the New Jersey Devils. Trade talks seem to be ongoing, and this could be something that materializes leading up to the deadline, if not much sooner."

The Devils' interest in Hanifin is rationalized by their struggle for consistency this season, exacerbated by the absence of Dougie Hamilton due to a long-term injury. Acquiring Hanifin could bolster their blue line significantly, adding another top-pairing defenseman capable of contributing to both power plays and penalty kills.
