The Boston Bruins have named Brad Marchand as the 27th captain of the Boston Bruins, the team announced on Wednesday.

Shortly after the release of the Bruins' 100th-anniversary jerseys, the equipment staff wasted no time stitching the "C" onto Brad Marchand's sweater.

For the Boston Bruins brass, this was a no-brainer. Brad Marchand has proved to be a strong leader on and off the ice, in the locker room, outside of the rink, in the community and around the city. Dedicating his career to the city of Boston -- he is now currently one of the longest-serving Bruins. Head coach Jim Montgomery has spoken very highly of Brad Marchand and continues to do so:

«I would say that he's ours and we're happy to have him. ... We don't concern ourselves with [outside] opinion or their thoughts. We love what we have, and so do our fans.»
Jim Montgomery said after he was asked what he would say to other NHL fanbases who may be skeptical about Brad Marchand serving as captain.

Brad Marchand is definitely meant to be a Boston Bruin, thick and thin, the fans do truly love him -- it is clear the organization thinks likewise.
