Oliver Wahlstrom To Make His Debut With The Bruins? It Was Just Confirmed
Oliver Wahlstrom was claimed off of waivers by the Boston Bruins today. Here's when he will make his debut.
Oliver Wahlstrom is a Yarmouth, Massachusetts native, who for the majority of his NHL career has played for the New York Islanders.
The 24-year-old was originally drafted 11th overall in 2018 by the New York Islanders and was thought to be one of the Islanders' picks who'd ascend into the top six as an elite goal scorer.
During his time in the NHL, he scored a career-high 24 points, in 2021-2022 and hasn't developed into his draft position.
Now he'll get a fresh start with his hometown, Bruins.
When will he make his debut with the Bruins?
While he won't be making his debut in Black and Golden against the Vancouver Canucks, he may slot in against the Calgary Flames.
He'll meet the Bruins on Tuesday, December 17th, against the rebuilding Calgary Flames and veteran Nazeem Kadri.
The No. 11 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft is a natural goal-scorer who owns a rocket for a shot. He gets the puck away quickly and with a lot of power, and he is a major weapon on the power play. Is also willing to stick his nose in to go to the dirty areas, and he has the size to fend off checkers.
Could the Boston Bruins and Joe Sacco find the potential Wahlstrom's squirreled away during his time in New York?
The Islanders and Lou Lamiorello failed to capitalize on the player they drafted in 2018 and it's arguable whether they developed Wahlstrom correctly.
His game has regressed over the last three seasons, culminating in tallying only two goals and four points in 27 appearances this season
