Despite the Boston Bruins' cap difficulties from last season, it does not end there. The Bruins are going to have to continue signing, resigning, and renewing players on their current roster while acquiring more pieces to the puzzle.
As a top forward, Jake DeBrusk might be a part of the Bruins' future plans. He will enter the final year of his two-year bridge deal, and resigning will not be cheap after establishing his worth in a breakout year.
The 28-year-old had a career-high 50 points (27 goals and 23 assists) in just under 70 games last season. Not only had his productivity developed, but he was also provided on the back end.
DeBrusk will be a UFA at the end of the 2023-24 season, giving him an advantage in contract negotiations. If Jake DeBrusk wants to remain a Bruin, he may take a lower-paying, more team-friendly contract.
