Bruins Rivals Experience A Tragic Loss
The hockey community mourns the loss of another beloved member.
As reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune, former Minnesota North Stars defenseman Brad Maxwell passed away on Sunday after battling a aggressive form of lung cancer.
Maxwell, who was the seventh overall pick in the 1977 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Minnesota North Stars, played in over 600 NHL games during his career. He spent the majority of his time with the North Stars and also had short stints with the Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and New York Rangers.
Despite not winning a Stanley Cup, Maxwell's career was filled with accomplishments. He won the Memorial Cup in 1977 as a part of the New Westminster Bruins and earned the title of an NHL All-Star during the 1983-84 season, amassing 73 points in just 78 games.
Throughout his career, Maxwell played in a total of 612 NHL games, scoring 98 goals and contributing 270 assists, accumulating a career total of 368 points.
Our thoughts are with the Maxwell family, his loved ones, and the entire hockey community affected by this tragic loss.
