After being eliminated in the playoffs last year, the Boston Bruins made some big moves in the off-season.
Two of their biggest moves were bringing in Elias Lindholm, and Nikita Zadorov, mainly for the purpose of being a deeper team, and adding more physicality for if or when these two teams meet again in the playoffs.
The belif heading into this year was that the Boston Bruins massivly upgraded their team, and were going to be a more competitive team, but that hasn't been the case at all. If anything it has made them worse.
Elias Lindholm has not lived up to the 7-year, $7.75 million contract he signed with the Boston Bruins in the off-season and it has been a problem.
The Bruins have a big issue all around with depth scoring, and it's starting to become a serious problem as well.
In just their last five games, the Boston Bruins only have 5 different goal-scorers. Morgan Geekie leads the team with 4, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand are both tied with two, Mason Lohrei, and Elias Lindholm are also tied with one.
Something has to be done, Don Sweeney can't just sit there and let this team get pounded every night. The Bruins have a clear problem of depth scoring.
There have been rumours that the Bruins are heavily interested in J.T. Miller, and bringing someone like him in would greatly improve this team, but would not make them a contender.
It seems like the only option the Bruins have is to sell or re-tool at the deadline. The Bruins are more than likely going to miss the playoffs, so their best option is to just sell off what they can and start their re-tool.
