While National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman initially hinted at an imminent 8-year deal with an average annual value and salary cap hit around $11.5 million, Swedish outlet Aftonbladet now confirms the negotiations' completion.
As per the latest report, Nylander's new deal aligns with Friedman's earlier information, securing a substantial $11.5 million per season. This landmark agreement elevates Nylander to the status of the highest-paid Swedish player in the National Hockey League, sharing this distinction with fellow countryman Erik Karlsson of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Nylander's decision to enter this season without a new contract seems to have paid off significantly. The 27-year-old forward is enjoying a career-best season, boasting impressive stats of 21 goals and 33 assists, accumulating 54 points in just 37 games. His performance puts him on track for a remarkable 120-point season.
