With the Boston Bruins having missed out on Ilya Kovalchuk and reports of Rick Nash contemplating retirement, the Bruins options to add to the wing are swindling down.

They've been attached to Michael Grabner over the last couple of days, a speedy winger who can score but can also dissapear at times.

It looks like general manager Don Sweeney has decided to go for the next best thing.

According to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, the Bruins have been in contact with free agent winger James van Riemsdyk.

The 29 year old winger is a consistent scorer and just put up 36 goals last season for the Leafs with the highest shooting percentage of his career at 14.5%.

The only road block between the Bruins landing JVR is that the sniper is likely looking for a six or seven year deal, something the Bruins might not be willing to cough up. He's also going to make a huge pay increase on the $5.5million he made last year, however with the Bruins having pushed for Ilya Kovalchuk and John Tavares, it looks like if the B's really want JVR, they'll find a way to make it work.

Do you think JVR would be a good fit for the Bruins?
