There's lots of question marks regarding what the future holds for Boston Bruins' forwardDavid Backes.
The Bruins placed Backes on waivers last week and he cleared going unclaimed by any other team.
That means Backes has been assigned to Providence, however there's no confirmation that he'll actually report.
We learned over the weekend that Backes might refuse to report to the AHL, now there's even some rumblings that he could just choose to retire.
Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe was able to track down team president Cam Neely and ask him about it.
According to Dupont, Neely says there's no expectation at all that Backes would retire.
It's also possible Backes could find a "lingering injury" and get placed on long term injured reserve.
As of right now though, it seems Backes still wants to play hockey.
