Head coach Bruce Cassidy sent a message to young winger David Pastrnak during Tuesday night's 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames by demoting from the first line down to the third line.

Cassidy made the change after Pastrnak took a selfish slashing penalty in the first period. He would only get seven shifts for the rest of the night.

"He knew he took a bad penalty," Cassidy said of Pastrnak, per WEEI. "He came out of the box ready to go in the second period. He was physical; he was winning pucks. Nice play, Heinen found him, got his shot on net. He wanted to give back. Like I said, he knew he messed up, and that's the growth you like to see. You don't want to see a guy go pout and sit at the end of the bench and not respond. So, that's maturity, and he responded the right way, played hard and helped us win a hockey game."

Cassidy appreciated the reaction he got from Pastrnak and he was back on the top line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron.

Here is how the team lined up as they prepare for their five-game road trip that takes them to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Buffalo.

Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak
Jake DeBrusk - David Krejci - Ryan Spooner
Danton Heinen - Riley Nash - David Backes
Tim Schaller - Sean Kuraly - Noel Acciari

Zdeno Chara - Charlie McAvoy
Torey Krug - Brandon Carlo
Matt Grzelcyk - Adam McQuaid

Paul Postma - Kevan Miller (red non-contact)
Tuukka Rask
Anton Khudobin

Kevan Miller will travel with the team, but he doubtful to play this weekend. Andres Bjork and Frank Vatrano will remain in Boston. We should expect the Bruins to recall an extra forward from Providence before heading west.
