The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney took a big chance this offseason as they let both Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug walk to free agency.

It was made clear that the B's wanted to get younger on the blueline and see what they've got in the system.

While it's looked good at times, it's also looked questionable thanks to some tough injuries throughout the season.

It's clear they need to bring in a veteran, younger than Chara with a more well rounded game than Krug and it seems they've found their target.

According to NHL insider Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Bruins have had talks with the Nashville Predators about Mattias Ekholm.

The Predators season isn't going as planned and general manager Dave Poile has basically said everybody except three players are available. Ekholm is one of the players available and he's already garnering lots of interest.

The 30 year old would provide the B's a very reliable minute eater on the back end and while he won't be UFA after this season, he'll only carry a $3.75million cap hit.

Would you like to see Ekholm in a B's uniform?
