Moments before puck drop between the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks last night, the Canucks ended up trading Miller, and Erik Brannstrom, plus Jackson Dorrington to the New York Rangers in exchange for Filip Chytil and defenseman Victor Mancini.
The New York Rangers also gave up a top-13 protected first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Level Draft. If the pick does end up being in the top-13, then it becomes an unprotected first-round pick in 2026.
Surprisingly the Canucks ended up flipping that pick from the Rangers pretty quickly and used it to acquire Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Conner from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Similar to the J.T. Miller trade, the Pittsburgh Penguins did not retain any salary in the trade with the Canucks.
Former Boston Bruins forward Danton Heinen is now on his way back to the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Heinen spent two years with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization from 2021-2022 before re-signing with the Boston Bruins in free agency for the 2023-24 season.
This past off-season, Danton Heinen ended up leaving the Boston Bruins organization once again and signed a two-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks with a cap hit of $2.25 million.
Here are all the moves the Vancouver Canucks made last night.
