His initial beginnings with the historic Original Six franchise originally led the organization and fans to believe that Bertuzzi was a bust. But he would later in the season become a key forward for the organization.
The Maple Leafs would love to re-sign Bertuzzi, but there are reports by Adam Proteau of The Hockey News, that the Red Wings, who originally drafted him are interested in bringing him back.
The 29-year-old forward, skated in 80 games for the Maple Leafs last season, scoring 43 points( 22 G, 21 A).
With the room the Red Wings have with their current cap space, they can fit Bertuzzi into the fold once again. Not to mention, how close he and Captain Dylan Larkin are, it could lead to an eventual reunion, should Steve Yzerman see fit.
There are multiple teams interested in Bertuzzi's service right now, more on the story as it develops.
