Patrick Kane to Boston confirmed: David Pastrnak will keep number 88
There's good news for Boston Bruins's own David Pastrnak, as he will not have to change his #88 anytime soon.
While the Bruins had interest in acquiring Patrick Kane's services for the 2024-2025 season, he is headed to the New York Rangers.
GM Don Sweeney was unable to end Showtime on Broadway, as he wanted another chance in Rangers blue.
This means of course, Pastrnak can continue unbothered and keep his iconic number.
I'm hearing that Patrick Kane will be a NY Ranger on July 1st drury and his agent have been working away at agreeing to a contact and it's progressing very well. Kane will be coming back to NY. #NYR

Kane apparently feels he left a lot in New York to be desired as he was unable to play to his own standards in 2022-2023.
"There's been lots of smoke about a return to the Rangers...If we had to pick a frontrunner I'd say it would be Rangers."

Kane has recovered from his prior hip-resurfacing surgery and Showtime was alive in Hockeytown, as he posted 47 points in 51 games.
With Kane heading back to New York, Pastrnak's status quo will not be deserved, and his number unchanged.
Of course, Bruins fans will miss out on the ability to see a Hall-of-Fame player playing one season in Boston.
He could've added a spark to the top six, sorely needed.
