Despite the loss, Latvia was still heading to a medal game. Playing for Bronze, against the heavy favorite Team USA.
Latvia defenseman Kristian Rubins scored just 1:22 into overtime to lead Latvia to a 4-3 victory over the United States and earn a bronze medal at the ice hockey world championship Sunday. It's the first top-three finish for Latvia at the tournament. Its previous best was a seventh place it managed three times.

As for the Bruins prospect, he had some key points. In 9 games Dans Locmelis scored 2 goals with 1 assist earning 3 points and will be heading home with a bronze medal around his neck.
