Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney is set to announce a massive roster transaction according to a report and it's huge for the Bruins.

As the Boston Bruins are starting to get healthier, the Bruins are expected to announce some roster moves coming up.

Yesterday after practice, interim head coach Joe Sacco did not count out the fact that Charlie McAvoy, or Hampus Lindholm could potentially return to the Bruins lineup today.

Instead, he did reveal that Mark Kastelic will not be able to play, but did not speak on any other injured players.

Both goalies and 13 skaters are on for the Bruins' optional practice today, including Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo and Mark Kastelic.

Joe Sacco said moments ago that Kastelic won't be ready for tomorrow, but he didn't rule out anyone else.

After practice yesterday Charlie McAvoy spoke to the media and was optimistic that he could return to the Bruins lineup today.

Charlie McAvoy on the possibility that he returns for tomorrow night's #NHLBruins matchup against the Winnipeg Jets: "[Will take the] pregame skate in the morning with the guys and go from there."

Bruins expected to make a big roster transaction

This morning, Charlie McAvoy was once again a full participant in the Bruins practice, and even joined the first power play unit, a clear sign that he could be good to go for tonight's game.

Insider Scott McLaughlin revealed that in order for McAvoy to return to the lineup tonight, the Bruins would have to reassign a player to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.

McLaughlin revealed that it will more than likely be Callahan due to the fact he won't have to go through waivers to be reassigned.

If the Bruins activate McAvoy off IR for tonight, they will need to open up a roster spot. Callahan can be sent back to Providence without going through waivers, fwiw.

The Bruins are preparing to take on the Winnipeg Jets, one of the top teams in the league, and they are going to need to bring their A game. The last time these two teams met, the Bruins got embarrassed losing 8-1.
