The Boston Bruins have one important RFA who they cannot let walk into free-agency, while the goaltending situation is still uncertain.

That RFA is in the AHL, the current Providence Bruins goalie Brandon Bussi, who is expecting a contract from Boston.

Bussi's last contract was a one-year, two-way contract in 2023-2024 for a league minimum of $775K.

But they're intent on keeping Bussi around:

There's been progress toward a new contract for Bruins prospect Brandon Bussi, per source. Expect it will be squared away soon. He can become RFA as of July 1

It appears with a Linus Ullmark trade in the future, signing Bussi is a priority as he could end-up being Jeremy Swayman's back-up in net.

Bussi's been a great goalie in the AHL, since his arrival in Providence in 2021-2022. His first full season would begin in 2022-2023, he had a .924 sv% and led with All-Rookie Team honors, and landed a spot on the Atlantic Division All-Star team.

It is doubtful that the Bruins will let Bussi walk to free-agency as he is sure to get an look in the NHL this season.
