He felt very strongly that he had no desire to become a Toronto Maple Leaf as all mark holds a no trade clause which includes A-15 team no trade list. Several pundits across the NHL have reported that the Maple Leafs are one of those teams on that list. Even though he says never say never, it was clear in his demeanor that he would rather remain as a Bruin then become a Maple Leaf.
He holds history with the Buffalo Sabres and the Bruins who are both archrivals of the Maple Leafs and he enjoys playing against them and would like to continue to play against them as a Bruin as he states in his interview.
Ullmark put together another great season as he played 40 games, had a record of 22-10-7 with 2.57 goals against and a save percentage of .915 with two shutouts.
He heads into this offseason with one year remaining on his contract worth $5 million. There are many teams throughout the NHL that will need goaltending and if the Maple Leafs are off the table, those other teams will be calling the Bruins to see if a deal can be crafted.
In the meantime, he will continue to enjoy his summer and await his fate from general manager Don Sweeney.
