A Boston Bruins super fan has started trending after dressing up as Jack Edwards for Halloween this year.
NESN's beloved Bruins broadcast duo, Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley, made a special return this Halloween, thanks to a young fan named Silas and his dad. Silas, a huge Bruins fan, dressed up as Jack Edwards, complete with a suit, Bruins tie, glasses, and even a recreated NESN broadcast desk set up on his wheelchair. His dad took on the role of Andy Brickley, making the perfect pair for Halloween.
Silas, who has Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy along with other conditions from a brain injury at birth, is known for his joy and humor, bringing smiles to everyone he meets. His mom, Melissa, shares Silas' journey on social media to show others the highs and challenges of raising a child with different abilities, hoping to provide support and inspiration to other families.
Creating these Halloween costumes has become a beloved tradition for Silas and his family. Each year, Melissa and her husband go all out, crafting custom wheelchair-friendly costumes for Silas. This is actually Silas' third Bruins-themed costume!
Two years ago, he dressed as a player in the penalty box, with his dad as the referee, and they also had a «Happy Gilmore» costume one Halloween.
Silas is a devoted hockey fan, and he and his dad watch Bruins games together on NESN. When the winter chill sets in, they head outside to their backyard rink, complete with a ramp so Silas can glide around on the ice. "Being on the rink is one of Silas' greatest joys," his mom, Mel, shared.
Halloween brings extra excitement for Silas and his family, who put hours of work into creating his costumes. "Seeing Silas light up, and watching how his costume brings other kids in to connect with him-it's worth all the effort," Mel added.
The timing couldn't be better, as NESN celebrates Edwards' career this Sunday during the Bruins' game against the Seattle Kraken, making Silas' costume a perfect tribute to the voice he loves.
