The Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand won't be splitting, at least yet that we know of. NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman says it'd take a lot for the Bruins to move on from their Captain.
The Boston Bruins may be forced into a retool, but that would have to happen if they miss the playoffs this season.
Under Head Coach Joe Sacco, the team is fourth in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 25-20-6, and 56 points.
The team is just several points shy of a wild-card spot in one of the toughest divisions in the league, which features their rivals like the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Florida Panthers.
It seems, that the reality of losing Brad Marchand could happen, should Sacco fail to make them playoff contender.
Should the team trade for the Captain, the Bruins would get some nice assets to begin the retooling of the lineup.
Fortunately for Marchand he could find himself on the path for another Stanley Cup if the Bruins find the right contender for him.
But we won't know what will happen to the Captain until we see the team fall out of competition this season.
The 37-year-old Marchand wanted to retire with the Boston Bruins, but he could end up as a rental with a Stanley Cup contender. He'd finish his eight-year $49 million deal, elsewhere besides Boston.
If there's hope, the team needs to tap into it now, to deliver a playoff spot to us all.
