After an early-than-expected elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoff, the Boston Bruins started their offseason, announcing a significant signing on Friday morning.

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, May 5, that the team has signed forward Matthew Poitras to a three-year entry-level contract beginning with the 2023-24 season with an annual NHL cap hit of $870,000. Poitras, a native of Brooklin, Ontario, was Boston's first pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft when he was selected in the second round (54th overall). The 19-year-old recorded 16 goals and 79 assists for the Guelph Storm this season, finishing second in assists and sixth in points in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)>
