At the age of 38, center Nate Thompson has decided to retire from professional hockey, bidding farewell to a remarkable journey on the ice.

Thompson's hockey career began to take shape when he was selected as a sixth-round pick (No. 183) by the Boston Bruins in the 2003 NHL Draft.

His major junior hockey career kicked off with Seattle in the Western Hockey League during the 2001-02 season.

Thompson's talent and dedication earned him recognition, leading to his draft by the Bruins after his second season with Seattle.

During his time with the Bruins organization, he showcased his skills and commitment to the game. However, his journey took a turn when he was claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders in 2008.

Subsequently, he made significant contributions to both the Islanders and the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he signed a four-year contract in 2013.

Thompson's career further blossomed with the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators before finally joining the Philadelphia Flyers in 2020.

Throughout his illustrious career, Thompson amassed 844 games played, leaving a lasting impact with 65 goals, 99 assists, and 164 points on the scoresheet. Although his plus-minus stat stands at -67, there's no denying the immense value he brought to every team he played for.

As Thompson embarks on a new chapter in life, the hockey community will forever remember his dedication, passion, and contributions to the game.
