On July 1st, Milan Lucic signed a one-year contract with the Boston Bruins, marking his return to the franchise where he began his illustrious NHL career and earned a Stanley Cup victory. However, it turns out the Bruins weren't the only ones vying for his services this summer.

"Yeah. I talked to Tre a little bit, obviously because I had Tre in Calgary there. So, he expressed some interest, and I was like, 'Yeah, it would be tough for me to be a Leafer,'" Lucic said. "Just because of the Boston connection."

When talking about Chicago's interest, he added, "Not only that, but you get to wear one of the nicest, if not the nicest, jerseys in the league. Cool city. Awesome city. For me, I think I have the most family out of anywhere in Chicago. I would've been playing in front of family on a night-to-night basis."

During his initial eight-year stint with the Boston Bruins from 2007 to 2015, Lucic played a pivotal role in the team's success, helping them secure the Stanley Cup in 2011 while recording multiple 20+ goal seasons.

The Bruins are now hopeful that his return will bring the same tenacity and bite to their bottom-six while occasionally contributing with crucial goals.

As Lucic dons the black and gold once again, both the player and the Bruins' faithful are eager to witness his impact on the ice and relive the magic that led to a Stanley Cup victory earlier in his career.
