In Suffolk Superior Court on Tuesday morning, Boston Bruins winger Milan Lucic faced arraignment, entering a plea of not guilty to a domestic assault and battery charge arising from his arrest last Saturday morning.

Lucic, released on personal recognizance, is required to abide by a no-abuse order and refrain from alcohol while the case is pending, with a pre-trial date set for Jan. 19.

According to the Boston Globe's report, the 6-foot-3, 236-pound winger's frustration turned physical when he couldn't locate his mobile phone after returning home from a seemingly night of drinking. Lucic's wife reported an argument to the police, detailing in the police report:

«He began yelling at her, demanding his phone back, believing she had hidden the phone.»

«He then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her backwards,» the report stated.

«She stated that in doing so, the suspect stated to her that she was not going anywhere,» noted the police report.

Mrs. Lucic indicated the Bruins winger was intoxicated, and redness observed on her chest led to a query about attempted strangulation, to which she responded negatively. Notably, Mrs. Lucic had mentioned in her 911 call that Lucic did attempt to choke her.

Upon reaching the Lucics' Battery St. condo building lobby, police officers observed redness on Mrs. Lucic's chest and asked about attempted strangulation, to which she stated it did not occur.

Heading upstairs to speak to Milan Lucic, officers noted he was drinking. When questioned, Lucic told officers nothing happened and offered no explanation. Despite his cooperation, the police chose to arrest him.

While gathering clothing in his bedroom, officers noticed a broken lamp and what seemed to be a small amount' of glass on the floor, which Lucic dismissed as broken shards of plastic.'

Following Lucic's early Saturday morning arrest, the Bruins issued a statement, declaring, «The Boston Bruins are aware of the situation involving Milan Lucic Friday evening.

Milan is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The organization takes these matters very seriously, and we will work with the Lucic family to provide any support and assistance they may need.»

Since then, the Bruins have continued to express a united front of support for Lucic and his family. As of the opening faceoff of their 7:05 p.m. ET game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa Bay on Monday night, the team had not fielded questions about the latest Lucic news.
