Why Bertuzzi Decided To Sign With The Maple Leafs
Tyler Bertuzzi's agent, Todd Reynolds, recently revealed to ESPN that they initially aimed for a long-term contract in free agency.
Although they received offers, none of the contending teams were willing to meet their desired $5.5 million average annual value (AAV).
Consequently, they adjusted their strategy and opted for a one-year deal with a contending team, considering the expected salary cap increase next summer.
This decision reflects their confidence in Bertuzzi's abilities and their anticipation of a more lucrative opportunity in the future.
