While he may stand at a modest 5-foot-9, Marchand's on-ice aggression and ability to agitate opponents have earned him the title of the league's "biggest chirper" in a preseason player poll.
In a recent podcast, "What Chaos!", Marchand discussed various topics, including his size, which led to an amusing conversation about the diminishing stature of Bruins' captains over the years.
Zdeno Chara, the exceptionally tall former captain at 6-foot-9, was referenced as an extreme example. The banter projected a future where the captain would be only 2-feet-9 by 2035.
Marchand, however, doesn't let his size define him, dismissing the notion of being a "short king." He exudes confidence and emphasizes that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, which should be embraced and leveraged.
Interestingly, only three captains in franchise history were smaller in stature than Marchand, including Bobby Bauer, Cooney Weiland, and Leo Boivin, standing at 5-feet-6, 5-feet-7, and 5-feet-8, respectively.
