Despite an uptick in NHL trade buzz lately, all 32 teams are likely to stay put until at least after the roster freeze lifts at 12:01 a.m. local time on Dec. 28.
According to an inside source in the NHL executive circle, teams are hesitant to part ways with players right before the holidays. Even though the Bruins are on the lookout for a defenseman and some scoring upfront, it seems they, like many others, are holding off on major moves for now.
But hey, don't rule out ongoing trade talks during the freeze. With several teams fighting for playoff spots, could we see some action once the roster freeze is over? Longtime NHL analyst Pierre McGuire suggested on the 'Eye Test Podcast' that due to the league's parity, we might witness earlier deals than usual.
Keep an eye on teams like the Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Los Angeles Kings, all seeking goaltending help. The Oilers, Devils, and Hurricanes are in the market for a top-tier goalie, while the Kings are strictly on the lookout for a backup. Interestingly, Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark, the 2023 Vezina Trophy winner, isn't making many appearances in the trade rumor mill.
