The Vancouver Canucks could be active by March 7th, as it appears defenseman Derek Forbort could be on the list of pending UFAs to trade.

Ex-Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort hasn't found a way to stick in the Vancouver Canucks lineup this season.

Forbort will have to impress GM Patrik Allvin to stay in the Canucks future plans, as the next seven games will be vital to the defenseman.

In 29 games, he's only scored 5 points (5 A) this season for the Canucks. He's spent a lot of this season injured, or out due to illness.

As of February 2nd, he was a healthy scratch for the Canucks by Rick Tocchet.

The times are looking tough for the former Bruins defenseman who signed a one-year deal with the Canucks this offseason.

He followed former teammate Jake DeBrusk to Vancouver but hasn't found the same success unfortunately.

GM Patrik Allvin.

"Derek gives us another big blueliner who has very good size and reach," Vancouver general manager Patrik Allvin said. "He defends well in his own end and works extremely hard in winning one-on-one puck battles and defending the front of the net. He plays with an edge and will make our back end better."

However, he's had little chance to prove his salt on Rogers Arena ice this season playing on 29 games.

Before the NHL break for the 4 Nations Face Off he was found on the top-pairing with defenseman Filip Hronek, as Quinn Hughes remains out of the lineup.

In the end, he's walking a tightrope in order to prove to the Canucks he's a worthwhile investment.
