The Boston Bruins are preparing to return to NHL action as they will take on the Anaheim Ducks, and may be down another defenseman after a recent report.

Yesterday, Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco confirmed that both Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm will not be available tonight.

Joe Sacco on being without Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy: "Certainly going to be a challenge without them in the lineup but I think it's an opportunity for everyone to really step up on the back end."

Charlie McAvoy was injured in Team USA's first game but still went on to play against Team Canada in their second game. It was later revealed that McAvoy was admitted to the hospital after suffering an infection that stemmed from a minor injury.

Joe Sacco stated that there is no timeline on McAvoy but he is expected to miss some time and is listed as week-to-week right now.

Hampus Lindholm is expected to return soon, but has yet to be cleared by the Bruins medical staff.

Brad Marchand and Jeremy Swayman both expected to play on Saturday for the Bruins. Charlie McAvoy is obviously out and Hampus Lindholm isn't cleared to return yet either. Tough times for the Black and Gold

Report Confirms Another Bruins Defenseman May Miss First NHL Game Back

It was just confirmed that Boston Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei is not at the Boston Bruins morning skate today.

Lohrei not skating this morning, not sure the issue. Right now Oesterle is running PP1. Zadorov running PP2

Now an insider revealed the reason. Lohrei is dealing with an illness, and is questionable to play for the Bruins tonight.

Lohrei under the weather. Questionable for tonight.

Already being down McAvoy, and Lindholm, losing Lohrei as well would be tough for the Boston Bruins.
