The Hockey Community Is Mourning The Passing Of 34-Year-Old National Goaltender Following Sad Announcement

The hockey community is once again mourning the unfortunate loss of another young hockey player as it was just announced that a 34-year-old goaltender has tragically passed away.

On Monday morning, an announcement confirmed that 34-year-old goaltender Hyun Ho Hwang I0 unfortunately passed away.

We regret to inform you of the passing of former South Korean national team goaltender, Hyun Ho Hwang l0:, at the age of 34.

Hwang went 1-2-0 through six games played with South Korea's national team lo: from 2018-2022, recording a .913 SV% in that span.

Professionally, Hwang played with HL Anyang (Asia League) co: from 2013-2014, and 2016-2023, and also played with Sangmu (Asia League) lo: from 2014-2016. He recorded an .896 SV% through 100 games played, and won the Asian League championship three times (2017, 2018, and 2023), all with HL Anyang.

According to the Korea Ice Hockey Association on the 17th, the deceased died of a sudden heart attack.

Born in 1990, he graduated from Yonsei University and started playing ice hockey at Daemyung Sangmu.

After that, he moved to HL Anyang and kept his position as a backup Goli to support Matt Dalton, the main foreign goli.

This tragic news revealed that Hyun Ho Hwang will be leaving behind a son and his wife..

He is survived by his wife Ahn Hee-kyung and son Seo-joon. The mortuary is Yonsei University's Sinchon Funeral Home No. 6, the coffin is 11:40 a.m. on the 18th, and the burial site is Incheon Family Park.
