Bruins general Manager Don Sweeney just revealed the real reason the Boston Bruins decided to fire head coach Jim Montgomery.

Don Sweeney held a press conference on Wednesday after firing head coach Jim Montgomery, and during the press conference many facts were revealed.

One of those being the fact that the Boston Bruins had an extension with Jim Montgomery, but Montgomery ultimately turned it down.

During the press conference Bruins general manager Don Sweeney would finally reveal why the team decided to move on from Jim Montgomery.

Don Sweeney stated that he didn't like the direction the team was going, and they were having a hard time responding to adversity.

He also stated that the were having a hard time maintaining momentum and that would ultimately lead to Montgomery being fired.

It has been revealed that since the firing of Jim Montgomery that took place on Tuesday, that Montgomery was unsure if he wanted to stick around.

Elliotte Friedman revealed that he thinks Jim Montgomery wasn't a fan of the direction the team was heading.

So it is very possible that if the Boston Bruins did not fire Montgomery, he was not going to re-sign with them in the off-season.

The Boston Bruins at the end of the day lose out on a great head coach, and now have Joe Sacco taking over.

The Bruins are hopeful he is able to get the team back on track.
