Sweeney confirmed that the organization is looking to extend Bruins captain Brad Marchand along with Morgan Geekie and Trent Frederic. All three players have played a pivotal role for the Bruins as they enter the new season with hopes to have a strong start and bring a sense of calm to the team as the storm rages on with their goaltender.
Brad Marchand continues to settle into his role as captain of this team and has shown his teammates what he expects from them as the season approaches. Many feel that he will finish his career with the Bruins and rumors have suggested that he will likely sign somewhere around a three-year deal. It remains to be seen on what the number will be in terms of cap hit.
Geekie, who was drafted in the 2017 entry draft, third round 67th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. The 26-year-old forward has played for three NHL organizations which include the Carolina Hurricanes, Seattle Kraken and the Bruins. Last season, he played 76 games scoring 17 goals with 22 assists for 39 points with 28 penalty minutes.
Frederic was drafted by the Bruins in 2016, first round 29th overall. His style of game is so much heavier as he holds a frame of 6 foot 3 and 220 lbs.
