Elliotte Friedman just responded to Brad Marchand's claiming that Friedman's report was false.

Over the weekend Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand was in the middle of some drama regarding contract extensions with the Bruins, and his future with the Boston Bruins.

Saturday night when the Boston Bruins were taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Elliotte Friedman made a report during the Hockey Night in Canada segment, stating that the Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand were closing in on a three-year contract extension. This report did not start any controversy, but following the game Brad Marchand denied the contract extension talks stating it was "false" when asked.

Monday morning Elliotte Friedman responded to Brad Marchand stating his report was "false" on his latest episode of his 32 Thoughts podcast. Friedman just clarified the situation regarding Brad Marchand's contract extension, and what he thinks is going on behind the scenes.

"He's the source, there's no better source on this one than Marchand since he's the guy who is actually going to sign the contract," admitted Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. "So if he says at this point in time that I'm wrong or the story is false, is the phrase he used, then I just have to eat it because he knows where things stand."

Elliotte Friedman thinks the Bruins and Marchand are trying to workout a shorter-term deal.

"I'll say this," began Friedman. "I don't believe talks have broken off between the Bruins and Marchand. I don't think this is a situation where they've stopped discussing it or they are no longer moving forward in an attempt to sign an extension, so I'm not concerned about that. What someone said to me on Sunday morning was 'If you're going to be wrong on this one' he thinks I'm going to be wrong on term.

"He thinks that the Bruins would prefer two years instead of three and we'll see where we go here."

Elliotte Friedman believes that the deal will get done regardless of the differences between Marchand's camp and the Boston Bruins.
