There were a lot of rumours in the last couple of days, pointing to JVR signing a PTO with the Seattle Kraken. Well things took a turn yesterday when it was announced that JVR signed an actual one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
JVR is well respected in the league and made a difficult decision yesterday to sign with the Blue Jackets, following Johnny Gaudreau's death it makes the situation a little weird, but no one better to take on that role then James Van Riemsdyk.
After signing the contract, JVR was asked about this unique challenge he will be taking on by signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his response was nothing but class.
JVR stated that the deaths of both Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau was tragic, and that he was really moved by the support and love from the hockey community following this tragic event.
He also spoke about how hard the dynamic is going to be for the Columbus Blue Jackets this year after what has happened.
JVR is one of the more classier players in the NHL and is well respected around the league and by fans because of this, and he proved exactly why in this statement.
He may be getting closer to the end of his career, but last year Boston Bruins loved him, and are sad to see him move on to another team.
Best of luck with the Columbus Blue Jackets JVR!
