The Boston Bruins had the best regular season in NHL history this year, winning 65 games. However, they learned the hard way that the regular season doesn't necessarily translate to success in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
They were eliminated by the Florida Panthers, the lowest seed team in the playoffs.
Recently, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was asked why they added captain Patrice Bergeron back into the lineup for game five when the Bruins seemed to have the series under control, leading 3-1.
Montgomery said:
"He asked Bergeron if it made more sense to rest him when the series was 3-1?
Bergeron said "Monty, I'm playing."
Bergeron was dealing with a infection in his arm and should of definitely taken a rest. However, being the captain Bergeron is he wanted to help his team win the series.
