Kevin Shattenkirk finds fresh start with the Boston Bruins
After spending the last three years in Orange County, California, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was in search of a change of scenery.
Despite enjoying the SoCal sunshine, the Anaheim Ducks' lackluster performance with a combined 71-114-35 record left him longing for a team that could contend for the Stanley Cup.
Having previously lifted the coveted trophy with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Edmonton bubble back in 2020, the 34-year-old veteran was determined to join another championship-caliber team. He believes he has found the perfect fit with the Boston Bruins.
In a Zoom interview on Wednesday, Shattenkirk expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to join a Stanley Cup contender.
"Getting back to a team that's a Stanley Cup contender was exciting. I've kind of lost that over the last three years."
He spoke of the excitement of returning to a team with championship aspirations, a feeling he had missed during his time in a rebuilding situation with the Ducks.
With his sights set on pursuing glory, Shattenkirk is ready to contribute to the Bruins' quest for the ultimate prize.
His experience and skillset make him a valuable addition to the team's defensive corps as they strive to compete at the highest level.
