Brad Marchand is the latest to share his admiration for Zdeno Chara completing the Boston Marathon, but of course, did so with his signature humour.
What If Big Zee Won?
Chara finished the 26.2 mile marathon with an impressive time of in 3:38:23 but still finished well behind winner Evans Chebet of Kenya crossed the finish line at 2:05:54.
However, Marchand knows exactly how his former teammate would've celebrated had he won. As per ESPN's Greg Wyshynski:
''I was surprised he didn't win the race, to be honest with you.''
'That he didn't throw people into the crowd and go for the win.''
An Amazing Accomplishment
All jokes aside, Marchand was also very happy for Big Zee, who served as captain of the Bruins for the first 11 years of his career.
''That guy's an animal. I texted him right before the race and it's impressive. Just how dedicated he is to everything. He does not surprise me. I was surprised he didn't win the race, to be honest with you. But he's incredible, he's just such a specimen. It's a lot of fun to see. He popped in the room here [Tuesday] and I was really happy for him.''
